All of the Heights: Exploring spatial memory
(Currently Recruiting Participants)
This project seeks to explore how systemic neighborhood disinvestment, gentrification, and the resulting migration of vulnerable communities of color from historic neighborhood strongholds have changed the built, cultural, economic, and social landscapes in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia (DMV). These systemic patterns of forced community change have resulted in an increase in crime and trauma that impacts communities due to chronic exposure to violence over time and across generations. Our study aims to explore how migration and movement in response to rising violence and neighborhood changes has impacted the people of these communities.
