Lessons from my Father: Gendered racial socialization practices of African American fathers
(Currently Recruiting Participants)
This project utilizes interviews with father/father figure caretakers and their sons between the ages of 12-17 to explore the messages African American fathers teach their sons about coping with racism, gender dynamics, and Black masculinity. We interview dyads because we are not only interested in the messages but also the manner and effectiveness of socialization from fathers to their sons. This project is currently in data collection.
